Canada & Beyond - Day 5 - Part 3

After we left the beach we started making our way to Dalvay-by-the-Sea, which was used as the White Sands Hotel in the Anne of Green Gables movies. It was so cool to get to see it in person!

It looks exactly the same as it did so many years ago when they filmed those timeless movies. Was very surreal and nostalgic to walk around taking it all in.

You can read more about the place here

Wouldn't this just be the perfect place to sit and relax with someone you love? I hope Nathan and I can go there someday together and enjoy it all ;)

We made our way inside and were able to walk around a little bit of the hotel and take some pictures.

We were able to see some photos of the filming of the Anne series here, and other important things that have happened there over the years. It was pretty neat!

We walked back outside and it started to rain pretty hard, so we made a mad dash to the car. Then started heading to Charlottetown to see a little bit more of the Island, before heading to Nova Scotia.

It stopped raining right as we pulled into the city, so we found a little coffee shop and enjoyed some nice hot beverages before making our way downtown.

It was a much needed little recharge of warmth, after that chilly walk on the beach and everything else, on such a dreary day.

We did some research while we were sipping away, and had the luxury of some wifi access... and discovered that Victoria Row, seemed to be the hub of the downtown Charlottetown scene.

Our first stop on the street was at the infamous Anne of Green Gables Store. We all found some fun gifts to bring home to friends and family, and some things for ourselves as well.

Several of us got this cute little set to bring home for our mothers. Isn't it pretty?!

Found ourselves some Raspberry Cordial! It actually was more like raspberry soda in a strategically labeled bottle... but hey who cares haha. It still tasted pretty good!

After we had all spent our life savings in the gift shop ;p hehe We decided to move on and walk around downtown some more.

It was such a cute downtown to walk through.

There were a lot of street musicians playing as we walked around, it was fun to listen to all the diversity in their styles.

One of the things that we had read about was the terrific Cows Ice cream. The first Cows opened in Cavendish, on Prince Edward Island in 1983. It is also considered "Canada's best ice cream" there are now 12 stores located across Canada (Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario). We visited this one in Charlottetown, and it was soo delicious. Ice cream is like any kind of food, it all depends on how it is made and the ingredients you use... I have to say this was some well done stuff!

They had multiple original flavors that were all pretty inciting, several tried the Messie Bessie, while I went for the Coffee, one of my favorite ice cream flavors.

The sun came out just in time for our cold treat, which was much appreciated haha.

Before heading out of town, we went into the chocolate shop to grab a few goodies for those back at home.

It was hard to leave such a beautiful place, but we were growing accustomed to saying hard goodbyes on this trip.

One of the larger Cows locations on the Island
The sun was starting to set, as we made our way through some gorgeous PEI countryside heading towards the bridge, and beyond to Nova Scotia.

It was a lovely way to enjoy a lovely sunset...

Awesome view coming down over the cliffs overlooking the bridge and water in between.

Like I mentioned a few posts ago, before crossing back over the bridge we stopped at Marine/Rail Historical Park.

We were able to get up close to this cute lighthouse, and another great view of the bridge as the sun was going down behind it.

Part of the gang climbed the large rocks down to the water for a different view... thankfully they also made it back up again too haha.

Here are a few panoramas I took on my phone of the view.

Made a makeshift "tripod" out of Nathan's sweatshirt, my camera strap, and the ground... and took a few long exposures of the lights over the bridge. They didn't turn out too bad considering what I had to work with! ;)

We left the park right as it was getting to the point where it was too dark to see much, so I didn't get any pictures crossing back over the bridge.

It took about an hour to get over to Nova Scotia, which sadly happened in the dark, so we didn't get to see much of it at the time. (But we did leave it a few days later during the day so got to see what we missed then).

It was another hour before we reached our campground for the night.

Once we set up camp we got the cooking supplies out and made some very tasty Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, even though it was like 10:30pm, it was still pretty darn good and a great way to end a wonderful day.
