Canada & Beyond - Day 7 - Part 2

The drive from Murphy's Cove towards Cape Breton Island, was beautiful and special in it's own way. But once we reached that Island, it was like nothing I have ever seen... It was around 1pm before we reached the entrance to the Cabot Trail, boy were we in for an afternoon of pure beauty!

We went over the small bridge that crossed the gap between the mainland of Nova Scotia to the northern Island.

We stopped at the little tourist center to get some basic info, before heading towards the Highlands National Park.

Some of the drive was inland for a little while, which was still so gorgeous! The grandness of it all just took our breath away.

The clouds and beautiful sky that day, really added to the awe inspiring beauty of this wild landscape. I fell in love with this place like no where else I've been in all my travels.

After a while we made it back to the coast, and started driving along the gorgeous waters of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence.

We found a small spot to pull off on the side of the road, and ran down to take some pictures of the huge rocks by the coast line.

.

Nathan really enjoyed jumping around on all the massive rock structures, he's a pro ;)

It was time to get back on the road, but we had to take a quick picture first, of course ;)

There were lots of little spots like this along the coast where people had settled down, not really in any kind of town... Just for the view I'm sure!

Cheticamp is the town right before the entrance to the Highlands National Park, we were finally almost there!

We made it! We went in to the Visitors Center to grab some maps and talk to the workers there. The weather was taking a turn for what looked like it could be the worst, with high winds and rain. So we wanted to see if they were still going to allow people to hike the trails in the park or not.

We found out that they were canceling the sunset hike on the Skyline trail, which was what we were hoping to do. But we could still go on it without the tour, as long as we tried to get off of the trails before dark. So we jumped back in the car and got going asap.

Once we started driving into the park, we realized we were in for a real treat... as if the landscape could get any more magnificent.

The road was so curvy, up and down over the huge hills. It reminded me a little bit of driving the Pacific Coast Highway in California. But yet was so different at the same time.
This little portion was one of my favorite views.

I know this is a lot of photos for one post as it is, so I'll cut it off here. But I hope you have enjoyed experiencing a little bit of our amazing drive for yourself.

The next post will be of us hiking the Skyline Trail, which we did make it in time for thankfully!
