Canada & Beyond - Day 10 - Part 3

Continuing on with our day at Niagara Falls... As soon as we started towards the loading area for the boat tours, it started pouring. And I mean pouring. We were all totally drenched before we even got on the boat ;p

We had to walk through a series of tunnels before we got down to the gift shops and loading area.

We made a quick dash for this tent where everyone was waiting and getting their ponchos to wear on board.

We went ahead and put them on, even though we were already soaked.

The rain let up a little bit right as we made our way down the walkway to the boat.

Once the select few who didn't care about being soaked and freezing were all on board, we set off to get right up close to the falls.

Lookin' stylish as ever ;p

The mist blowing off of the falls was intense, it felt like walking into rain head on. But also was an amazing feeling being close to so much natural power and beauty.

Julia got this one of us looking ridiculous/epic ;p

Here's a short GoPro video from the boat ride, to see more click the link below!

It was so much fun getting drenched by a waterfall with all these great people ;)

We were out on the boat for probably about 20 minutes or so, but it flew by and felt far too short. Although we were all drenched and shivering, I think we would have gladly been up for round two! ;)

Once the boat was docked, we all started making our way back up to the big tent.

Some of us decided to keep our ponchos as souvenirs of our adventure.

It was soo much fun, and I'm really glad we went on the boat ride, it made visiting the falls so much more memorable of an experience than just standing at the railing.

We made our way back to the car and were hungry and very wet. So we found a pizza place that had good reviews online and was only a few miles away, and made our way there.

We all went and changed into some dry clothes and got our pizza to go and just ate in the car, since they had a long wait for a table.

As you can see, we were full of energy and looking amazing! ;p
Let's just say, the pizza revived our tired selves and warmed our insides and left us better than it found us ;)

In honor of Canada's 150th birthday, there were fireworks going on every night at 9pm at the falls. So once we were all full of pizza, we headed back down to watch the show!

They also light up the falls as the fireworks are going on. It was spectacular!

I propped my camera up on the rock pillars on the railing, and was able to get some long exposures of the fireworks.

It was a beautiful display and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

It was probably 10:30 or so by the time we were back at the car and ready to go. This was definitely one of my favorite days we had during the whole trip. As a major waterfall lover, I had always wanted to spend time at Niagara, and am so happy we were able to make it there and have such a wonderful day.
That night we drove about an hour or so to London, ON and camped at the Fanshawe Conservation Area to be close to the airport. As Tia was flying home from there early the next morning. We arrived tired and it took a while to find our campsite. As we were setting up camp a twerp of a skunk kept roaming around... But thankfully none of us were sprayed in the process!

My next post about our day stuck on a bridge and spending a lot of time at a cheese store, will be coming soon. Stay tuned! ;p
