The Adventure's of April - Day 9

Hello all, I know this post is quite overdue... but hey, better late than never right? ;)
As I am sure you all know, we arrived home late Monday evening (1:00 am to be exact) but I want to still finish telling the tales of our adventures across the country!

I shall pick up from where I left off with the last post... On day 9 of our trip, also the last day of our time in Arizona with all of the Braught family, we all traveled two hours together to visit the Hoover Dam, just outside of Las Vegas, on the Arizona and Nevada boarder.

It was soooo windy!!

It was really amazing being up so high and being able to see so much of  the dam and water at one time.

Standing on the state line :)

Palm trees!

The worlds longest, skinniest, escalator ever :p

Crazy to see the water levels so low... :/

Lake Mead overlook

You can see where the water level and marina used to be.
We had so much fun together exploring this amazing little part of the country, it was awesome to get to do something all together as a family for the first time :)

We came home to a bad sand storm reeking havoc on Kingman. Our tent was quite a mess... After getting everything cleaned up and showering all the dirt off of us, we finally settled in for the evening right as the sun was going down.

The Adventure's of April - Day 8

On Monday afternoon, Nan, Melissa, Nathan, and myself, all went and explored the small town of Chloride... It was quite the experience to say the least. It was about an hour drive from Kingman, through some pretty parts of the area.

Our first stop was a little gift shop right on the edge of town where we all found a few goodies.

Saw this little sign in the shop, got a kick out of it ;p

Joshua trees are all over this part of Arizona

I love these pink flowering cacti

Nathan built the most epic of rock piles while we were exploring the wilderness.

A house sparrow hanging out in a tree

We saw sooo many quail all over the place while in Arizona,
We found this lady's place along the street while driving around town, and she had quite the yard art! She has a huge, huge, collection of things she has gathered over the years and turned into artwork of all kinds.

The faucet cactus

Most of the town was closed up, since they get most of their business during the summer months. But we still drove around and had a good time looking at all the old and "antique" stuff everywhere.

The Dumbo of the mule deer family :P

We think this was a mini version of the town set up in someones yard.

After we drove all over Chloride and felt we had seen all there was to see, we decided to head home.
The sun was just going down behind the mountains as we pulled in.

The guys grilled us some tasty burgers and hot dogs for supper, it was a great way to end a relaxing and fun day together.
