The Adventure's of April - Day 7

First thing Sunday morning, well after a very tasty breakfast that is, I got my tripod all set up and got everyone together for a family photo. It was quite an experience trying to get all these people to keep a straight face for longer than a second.

(As you can see they all tend to enjoy making goofy faces....)

This is one of the best ones I got ;)

L-R: Nathan & me, Crystal & Brain (Blake's brother) their son Jacob, Nan & Charles (Blake's dad), Kaitlin,
Melissa & Blake, Mandy, Mikaela, and Cristen.
After our family photo-shoot, we all spent a while doing random stuff. The guys were working hard to get bird netting up over the garden, so that quail would quit getting in there and eating all their goodies. Jacob and I had the most unique game of soccer, pretty much ever. He made up all the rules as we went along. After we got to the bonus, bonus, bonus, bonus, round and ten hundred million points, we decided to move on to another game ;p We played with rocks for a while and made some cool designs. He was quite a fun kid, we all very much enjoyed his company :)

Around 2:00pm Brain, Crystal, and Jacob had to head back home to California. We were all sad to see them go.

After they left, some of us decided to go to the town of Oatman, about an hour from the house.

What it looks like these days to mine for gold.

Cactus in the sun.

Oatman is an old mining town that is now quite a tourist trap, they even let wild burros roam the streets!

Nathan looking smashing ;)

This restaurant was super cool! The entire inside of it is covered from floor to ceiling in $1 bills! They say they think its over $100,000 in cash!

People that come in to eat can write their name on a dollar bill and have it put wherever the way in the whole building.

Mom and baby ;)

Pretty cactus in the sun.

We had a super fun time that afternoon, it was a very pretty drive there and back along the historic Route 66.

While on our way home we stopped at this gorgeous vista overlook. It was amazing.

The mountains were breathtaking in the evening light, they got lighter and lighter in color as they got further away from sight.
We saw some families of wild burros on our way home as well!

The babies were soooo cute! We all wanted to bring one home with us ;)

Every evening the sun would start to go down and give the mountains a beautiful red glow.
The desert definitely has some amazing scenery.

  1. Ah! This looks to have been quite a memorable day. From playing with kids (cmon, how much fun is that! :) ), to curious restaurants, to gold mines! Sounds like tons of fun! :)

Let me see... I think that either 24 or 26 would have to be my favorite. The view from the overlook is incredible.
