The Adventure's of April - Day 10

On the 10th day of our adventure, our time in Arizona had to draw to a close... we packed up, said our goodbyes to Nan & Charles, and got on the road bright and early the morning of April 15th.

The last of the Arizona sunrises I got to see on our trip.
Definitely a beautiful view to wake up to every morning!

Loading up the car

Nan & Charles Braught, our super fun and extremely gracious hosts for the week.
We loved spending time with you two!!

Me, Nathan, and his whole family all traveled a few hours north-east to reach the southern rim of the Grand Canyon.

This was such a cute squirrel, Cristen actually touched it ;p

View from the Grand Canyon south entrance, Yavapai Point.
Our very first glimpse of the Grand Canyon, it was breathtaking.

Had to take a selfie, of course ;)

I love, love, love this one... :)

Vulture flying over the canyon.

I think this Grandview Point scenic overlook was my favorite view of the canyon.

Leaving the park... :(

It was an amazing day, one that I wish would have lasted a lot longer... that's for sure! It was so hard to spend only part of a day at such a spectacular and breathtaking place. Seeing the Fathers creation in such an awesome capacity was truly amazing, and not an experience I will soon forget!

Heading out of the canyon area towards Utah.
This is where us and the rest of the Braught family had to part ways, it was sad to see them drive away in another direction after spending so much time with one another and having such a great time together. We had a terrific day exploring the canyon rim with them, that's for sure! :)

We drove further north, getting to Utah right as the sun was going down.

The scenery turned into a lot of red sand and soil as we were heading into the Monument Valley area, which we didn't really get to see because it was dark by then :-/ That was quite a bummer.. But it was still a gorgeous drive before then :p This was by far one of my favorite days of our entire road trip... we can now cross the Grand Canyon off our list of places we someday want to see with our own eyes. Though Nathan and I definitely want to go back someday very soon, and this time do some real hiking and go down to the bottom! I really hope that we get the opportunity to do that in the not so distant future ;)

Next stop on our trip was Pagosa Springs, Colorado! Stay tuned... ;)
