One of the other highlights from our day in Halifax, was visiting the incredible Seaport Farmers Market!
As soon as we entered the door we realized it was even more spectacular inside than it looked on the outside.
It was a lot to take it in, so we just started at one side and started making our way through all the cool little booths.
There were so many amazing and creative things for sale, it's always so neat to see what each little corner of the world has to offer their community.
For lunch we settled on this tasty Shawarma stop which was soo good!
We sat in those little chairs down by the bay, and ate our yummy lunch. Before heading out and about to see what else there was to see in town.
We found a place to park downtown, and walked a few blocks to explore the area.
This World Tea House, was like nothing I had ever seen! I just had to try some ;)
It was hard to decide with so many choices, but I finally settled on some Vanilla Red Rooibos, it was delicious!
The architecture in this area was so unique, lots of old buildings being re-purposed into classy new business locations.
After a few blocks we started making our way down to the water to walk along the harbor.
I had no idea that Theodore the tugboat was a real little boat! haha
Out off shore a little ways, was this island and lighthouse. I haven't ever been to Europe but man it sure reminded me of things I've seen from over there. You can definitely see all the influence in this area.
This memorial arch has such a neat story. Make sure you take a look at the plaque in the photo below to learn more about it and read a little piece of history.
We loved the harbor walk, it was so peaceful and I would have loved to stay there all night. But alas we had a ways to drive still before we got to our campground for the night, so started heading back to the car.
To get out of the downtown area we had to cross back over this iconic bridge, to start making our way up the coast.
We were inspired by the fishy smell of the sea, so decided to stop by a market and get some fresh fish. But were having a hard time finding anything open that time of the day, so ended up finding an Atlantic Superstore, and got some fresh Rainbow Trout to cook up for supper.
We arrived at the campground just as it was getting dark, set up camp and cooked some delish fish!
After supper we went down to the camp's community campfire and met some of the locals. It was a long tiring day, but oh so many wonderful memories were made!
Make sure you stay tuned for the next post, it'll be all about our time on Cape Breton Island!
