Canada & Beyond - Day 5 - Part 1

On the morning of August 17th, we went for a nice little walk along Cavendish beach. Found some pretty shells and rocks to keep as souvenirs. It was quite windy but still beautiful!

We had a great breakfast before packing up camp, a few of the girls made pancakes over the fire while the rest of us put the tents away.

Once we were all packed up we drove a few miles over to the Green Gables Heritage Place!

It was free for us to enter since this year is Canada's 150th birthday, they have free entrance to lots of parks and areas this year. It was a huge perk of our trip!

Behold Green Gables!

We were able to walk through the entire house and see how it might have been back during the days of Lucy Maud Montgomery, when she wrote the Anne series.

Once we were done with the house walk through, we went on the Haunted Woods trail.

As this sign says, the woods were obviously just a pretty wooded area, nothing very haunted about it haha. But it was fun to see the woods that inspired it all.

Once we were out of the woods, we went across the street to the site of her Cavendish home.

All these signs explain a lot of detail about the area, better than I can ;)

My favorite leaf! It's so cute

We were bummed once we walked all the way to the site, to see it wasn't actually a house anymore.

It was such a pretty walk, I loved all the landscaping around the place.

This site, and bookstore is still maintained by the family, which is pretty cool!

It was beginning to get really cloudy and a bit chilly, so we started heading back, hoping we wouldn't get rained on.

We got to see everything from Lucy's birthplace, to her resting place on this little island.

We walked back through the woods pretty quick since it was sprinkling a little bit, and got back to Green Gables without getting rained on thankfully.

We went in to the gift shop and looked around, found a few goodies but decided we wanted to see what else we could find in Charlottetown later that day, since everything here was pretty pricey.

We did a lot on the island that day, so I've split this post into several parts too. I know this one still had a lot of photos, so thanks for your time and attention! Hopefully you found it interesting and enjoyed getting to see a bit of Green Gables, even if you can't see it in person.
