Canada & Beyond - Day 10 - Part 1

Waking up on August 22nd, in the foggy hills of New York seemed like a dream. The sun filtered through the fog and was so beautiful. We were at Broken Wheel Campground in Petersburgh, NY high in the hills, the air was brisk and felt clean and fresh. It didn't matter so much that we had not gotten much sleep, for today we would see Niagara Falls :)

We packed up camp and got on the road as early as possible to make the most of our day.

Driving through the hills and valleys as the sun was coming up, was absolutely spectacular.

We took a quick detour back east in to Vermont, since we technically skipped driving through it the night before and wanted to at least go into the state a little ways so we could say we had been there ;p

Just chillin on a bridge

After we had driven aways through Vermont we made our way back to New York and started heading towards Albany.

We drove past some cute little farms, and some really pretty houses!

Loved seeing all these gorgeous Norway Purple Maples in the North East, I want one!

I mean, I'd live there ;)

Patriotic New Yorker ;)

As we drove into the city of Troy, we decided to take a little detour into downtown and see if we could find some coffee and breakfast.

Statue of Uncle Sam Wilson

We found this bistro and decided to check it out!

It was so classy! They had some really delicious coffee and food.

After we were satisfied with our goodies, we got back on the road.

The city had some really pretty architecture.

We stayed on the road after that and kept on towards our final goal of Niagara Falls.

Sure I've been to Amsterdam ;)

It was a beautiful drive, I never realized this part of the world was quite so geographically diverse and just plain gorgeous!

That's one way to haul a load... ;p
As we started getting closer to Buffalo we ran into a severe thunderstorm with a high wind advisory. We were concerned being on the road, but also how it might effect our day at the falls.

It didn't take long and it started pouring like crazy and the wind picked up.

It started to hail so we stopped under an overpass for a bit till it passed.

It did eventually pass over, and not much later we arrived in Buffalo, NY.

Took the bridge and we crossed over in to Ontario Canada once again, to see that side of the falls which we had heard was the best view and had the most attractions.

We got a quick glimpse of Lake Erie as we drove over the bridge.

We entered Canada and then had a little ways longer to go before reaching their side of the falls.

As this post is obviously quite long already, I will be sharing about our time at Niagara Falls in the next post. Thanks for being patient! :)
