Hello everyone! Yes I know it's the 3rd day of our trip and I'm just now getting a chance to write a post! Due to a lack of time and cell or wifi singal over the past couple days I'm having to post this on my phone and using the pictures I have taken on here for the post. But that's okay right? ;) I'll be sure to post high quality ones at a later date if not here, than on other sources of social media.
Sooo here goes:
We took off from home around 7am Sunday morning the 19th.
And after driving a couple hours hit the boarder of North Dakota
There wasn't much to stop and see for most of the way... Pretty flat and bare.
Then we got towards Montana and the terrain turned very hilly and it got extremely windy! Didn't make driving super fun. But once we crossed the boarder it wasn't so bad, things flattened out some and the wind died down and we had a lovely evening drive watching the sun go down.
We made it to Cut Bank, MT around 9:30pm MDT Sunday night and had a great nights sleep.
We woke up and got going fairly early that morning, we both wanted to make sure we were clean and well fed before heading out for our long week of travel! ;)
From there we were only about 60 miles from the East entrance of Glacier National Park, MT. It was an absolutely gorgeous drive!!
It didn't take long to see the mountains spreading out before us, in all their magnificent beauty!
Once we made it in to the park we stopped at the St. Mary visitors center to get some info and maps so we knew where to go next. And watched a cool video and demo on how to use bear spray which was honestly quite entertaining ;p
We left from there feeling ready to start our adventure! By this time it was about 11am, so we grabbed a quick snack out of the cooler and started driving through the park... It didn't take long to find a million places to stop and take pictures!
We got out at one point and hiked and bushwhacked our way through some brush to make it down to this incredible view of St. Mary Lake!
We (well mostly me) really didn't want to leave that spot, but knew there was lots more to see, so made our way back to the car and kept driving along!
One of the most spectacular views in the park, is of this areal view of St. Mary Lake
So many trees!
This was freaky yet astounding at the same time! This waterfall called Birdwoman Falls is like 1,000 ft long and just goes and goes and goes.
I have never seen such absolutely crystal clear waters as I did in this park. It was breathtaking... And very cold!
We got to Avalanche Campground around 6pm and made camp.
Had some tasty supper...
And decided to go do a little more site seeing before we hit the hay.
Along the way we stopped here at McDonald Creek and took some long exposures and videos of this gorgeous set of falls and rapids.
Needless to say we had a grand time at Glacier National Park, it definitely lived up to my high expectations!
We got going this morning around 7:30 and made our way through the rest of the park and out into the gorgeous Montana countryside.
We drove for about 2 hours before making a stop in Polson, MT to see historic Kerr, MT and the Kerr Dam! As probably everyone knows, Kerr is my maiden name and so this was super cool tons we in more ways than one!
We kept on going from there, making our way through the rest of Montana, the Idaho panhandle, and in to Washington.
We drove through Spokane and made it down to our campground near Kennewick, WA around 5:00 pm.
After setting up camp we went down the road a ways to Sacajawea State Park and walked around for a bit.
Now we are in Kennewick enjoying some coffee (and wifi) and going to take a stroll around town to see what we can find ;)
Thanks for patiently awaiting this post and taking the time to read it! I'd love to see what you all think about our adventures so far and the pictures above. Which one is your favorite?
Till next time!
